The Flower Show
The weather in Cuenca has been cooler and rainier than normal for the past month or more. Cloudy, overcast days have been the norm so when Saturday dawned bright and clear we decided we had to get outside and enjoy it. The flower show at the Pumapungo museum gave us a perfect excuse to get out of the apartment….
This locally well known, neocolonial landmark was originally a small chapel on the same site. The chapel was destroyed (the Spanish word used for this was arrasó, which means leveled) in the flood of 1950. This is the same flood the broke the Broken Bridge (puente roto) after which the present structure was built….
